Carnarvon Gorge National Park closure

Updated News

7 December 2018

Carnarvon Gorge Section, Carnarvon National Park is currently closed due to wildfire. This includes camping, accommodation and day visitation, and all access roads and tracks including the road into Carnarvon Gorge.Sadly some significant infrastructure damage has occurred within the park and it will take time for the area to be declared safe.

Although Takarakka Bush Resort is normally open all year round, we are temporarily closed due to the fire event and will not be able to reopen until the access road and tracks are declared officially open.

Estimated Closure 2 December to 14 December 2018

We look forward to the recovery process as we expect Carnarvon Gorge will spring back into its full beauty very quickly. If you have a booking at Takarakka between 14 December and Christmas, one of our Taka Team will be in touch to advise you of the recovery progress.
